How do I install Objectivity/DB?
Please select the installation instruction for your operating system:
Unix Install Instructions
Objectivity/DB unix installation is done using a Perl script. The steps are as follows:
- Download and unpack install tar.gz file
➤ Gunzip the install tar.gz file
➤ tar -xvf install tar.gz file

You will get a subdirectory called "cdrom" that contains the installation script:
➤ install.sh

Execute the installation script
➤ sh install.sh
➤ Follow the installation prompts

Windows Install Instructions
The Windows installer files are contained within the downloaded .ZIP file:
Download the appropriate Windows installer .ZIP file
- Extract the "cdrom" folder from the archive (and all files within) to anywhere on your PC, using your preferred archive/decompression utility (WinZip, StuffIt, WinRAR, or the Windows compressed folder viewer)
- Browse the extracted "cdrom" folder and run "setup.exe" to begin the installation
- Follow the installation prompts
- Install the license as per the instructions provided in the license email you've received following registration.
Does my machine need to have any prerequisite software installed?
Depending on your operating system and the compilers you have installed on your machine, you may need to install addition software. For specific software requirements that has not been listed on our trial download site, please email info@objectivity.com.
Do I need an Internet connection to install Objectivity/DB?
No. An internet connection is only needed when you are downloading the Objectivity/DB installation software.
What if I get an error during installation that prevents the installation from completing?
You will need to return to the download website, and check that your system configuration matches that of the version of Objectivity/DB that you have downloaded. If there are no problems with your configuration and the installation problem persists, please contact Customer Support for help.
I'm on Windows and the error message: "Error 1920. Service ooams-3 failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." What should I do to resolve this problem?
It is likely that your system is missing a software requirements. For a complete listing of our software requirement, please see the Installation Guide located in our Documents section. The most common requirement that is overlooked is the version of Microsoft .NET Framework; please check that your version matches the one listed.
